We’re here to celebrate the sequins. To embrace the lace. To high-five the hairspray. Because let’s face it: proms may be awkward, but they’re also full of awesome.
AWESOME, like teal satin with dyed shoes to match. Like tulle piled miles high. Like trying to seem hip and cool while your sexually confused date tries not to touch you inappropriately as your parents keep scrunching you closer together to get yet another photo in the 90-degree heat.
And then there’s the awesome that comes with the downright unfortunate.
UNFORTUNATE, like This will look fine without a bra. Like a new perm. Like acne, broken zippers, purple eyeliner, corsages that look like small animals, and the entire ridiculous genre that was the ’80s.
It’s all here: the awesome photos, the unfortunate photos. Photos that are lots of fun, photos that make no sense (why the dog?), and photos that capture the essence of why teenaged formals are really so unforgettable.
