The Great Stone Shortage of the 1960s: Exhibit B

Posted on March 23, 2010 by in 1960s Prom, Backdrop FAIL, Bizarre Backdrops, Blame the Photographer | 8 Comments

Year: 1960s

In this photo, Jeff’s aunt has let her hair down. Literally. And while she’s still pairing her pastels with white, we see she’s opted to trade in her white shoes for black. Bold move.

What’s better(?), though, is that she’s opted to trade in her shoulder-tarantula for a shoulder-cockatoo. Much more spring-like if you ask me.

Meanwhile her date has clearly joined a band. (At least his ankles stayed warm.)

Mostly, I cannot get over that the same prom committee got together and decided yet again to paint a wall of a wall. “But this time it will be, like, round stones!”

Oh, well then.

p.s. I love how the wall cuts off before the photo does (see upper right).

p.p.s Is the plant floating in air?

I like that they couldn't even finish painting the stones. Did they run out of time before the photo-op started?

I could be mistaken, but I believe the white on the inside of the stones is for “effect.” I just couldn't tell you what that effect is.

Exhibit A of why trying to be “cute” never ends up being anything but regretful.

I really can’t believe that no one’s taken the time to comment on the Nehru Jacket that Jeff’s Aunt’s date is sporting. It looks like it was made out of upholstery material, or perhaps curtains. I picture him putting it together at the last minute, like Scarlett O’Hara did with the drapes.
